Surf Jam 2005 |
| |
|
After the huge success of
Surfjam this weekend at Boscombe beach, Lindsell Custom Boards would like to
thank everyone that competed and everyone who helped behind the scenes to make the day
such a success. With the weather being glorious nature had to balance itself out so as a
result there was no surf at all not to be put off there was a junior paddle
competition and an adult paddle open which saw enthusiastic competitors paddle around the
pier and race across the beach to be crowned winner. Congratulations to Harry Ovington for
the juniors who took away a brand new wetsuit courtesy of Sorted and to Paul
Watts for the adults who is the proud owner of an L C Boards Twin Fin Retro. |

To the soundtrack of DJ
James Chitty live on the decks, the half pipe came alive with both skaters and BMX riders
warming it up and wearing it in. The 6 ramp was made by the staff at LC Boards
thanks to a generous contribution of wood from Travis Perkins. The BMX event,
compeered by Gary Meason, kicked off with a BMX freestyle event, first prize going to Phil
Aller who impressed the crowd and terrified the organizers with his tail tap off the top
rail followed by a couple of 540 tail whips. Phil also pulled out the big guns for the BMX
big air comp which won him a brand new BMX courtesy of Alan at On Yer Bike. Shouts
also go out to Mark Newton and Oliver Noscoe who took 2nd and 3rd in the BMX comp
demonstrating an awesome standard of riding. |
|
The skaters didnt
disappoint, they owned the ramp and showed off all the tricks in the book at
this mellowpark. Prizes were
provided by The Poole Skate Shop and went out to Peter Lincoln, Reece Luke, Paul
Kelly and Ross Surname - all of whom set a high standard for skate comps to come! The game
of s.k.a.t.e was conveniently located in front of the pub so was enthusiastically
spectated by many! |

After the excitement of
the day we all eagerly anticipated the after show party which saw the launch of the LCB
clothing range, kindly modeled by the bar staff and employees of LCB. DJ James
Chitty was back to scratch us into the mood, closely followed by the fantastic live band Decca
Gives Chase. The Bournemouth three piece worked the crowd into a frenzy with their
genius MCing and live drum and bass hooks. DJ Karl and the Consortium resident ended the
night with a bang. All in all over £1,000 was raised for the three chosen charities of
the Tsunami Appeal, RNLI and St Johns Ambulance. An excellent result for such a fun
day. |

All that remains is for
us here at LC Boards to say thank you. Firstly to Bournemouth County Council who made it
all possible. Closely followed by Boscombe beach patrol and St Johns Ambulance who
kept an eagle eye on the proceedings. Huge thanks also Travis Perkins for sponsoring the
half pipe and donating the wood. Matt Hillier, Shaun at Sorted, Alan at On Yer Bike
without your input and enthusiastic advertising we wouldnt have had the class of
competitors that we did, so thank you. Finally, to ALL those people who contributed their
time, effort, expertise and money we are grateful
Mike Lindsell, Dario, Philip Lock,
